Buying at The Barn
An auction is the process of buying and selling goods where the hammer price is the price paid plus a buyers commission. Our auctions offer around 500 lots for sale and runs every fortnight. All our auctions start at 6pm and tend to finish around 9pm. Refreshments are available throughout the evening. Thanks to the items on offer and our engaging team, you are sure to have a great time!
Bidders can register on the day to bid in the room. Creating a “paddle” allocates you a permanent bidding number which you use each time you visit. All we need are some basic details and to see your ID such as a drivers licence.
If you can’t stay for the auction you can leave commission bids either in person, over the phone or via our online form. You still need to register and we recommend you view the items before bidding as we do not make reference to the condition of lots within the sale or descriptions. We are however happy for you to contact us to ask for a viewing, more photographs or a condition report.
Leaving a commission bid means the auctioneer bids for you. We aim to buy the item as best we can for you at the lowest price. We do not start bids at your maximum bid.
Telephone bids are possible on items with an estimate of £25+. Please contact us to register for a call. We phone you a few lots before the one you wish to bid on; you then bid through us “Live” on the telephone.
For those new to auctions, the process may seem a little daunting but the team at The Barn are happy to help and guide you through the process and have you bidding like a “pro” within hours!
All purchases at the fall of the hammer of subject to an all inclusive BUYERS PREMIUM of 17%. Not local? Register via Paypal with a £1 charge, refunded on your first invoice!
